November
30th - The last day of November was
beautiful so I set out after work to complete some
more of the Buffalo Mountain trails. I started
at the main trailhead (elevation 2200'), and worked
my way east to the "White Rock Trail". I took
a slightly different route than earlier in the year,
and I also used the tower access road to complete
some side trails that I haven't done before.
Eventually, I made it to a ledge very close to White
Rock, where I stopped for a break and to take some
photos (see
here,
here,
&
here for my previous 2007 White Rock
trips). The skies were perfectly clear and the
views were fantastic from this ledge.
From
the ledge near White Rock I took another short trail
to get to the access road again, and I climbed up to
the towers (elevation 3200'). From there, I
soon found the blue-blazed "Tower Ridge Trail" where
I began my descent. Eventually I made my way
back down to Hartsell Hollow where I then retraced
my steps back to the car.
Total
distance on this hike was 3.4 miles.
