TRAIL MAINTENANCE:  Cutting Weeds
     

June 19th, 2008 - I scouted our entire 3.7 miles of blue-blaze and Appalachian Trail, all the way to the top of Pond Mountain, and I cut weeds along the way with the swing blade.  I spent some extra time cutting under the powerline cuts and on the railroad grade of the A.T.  I also removed one small blowdown.  I left the house at 4:30 and returned at 9:30, logging right at 5 maintenance hours.  I felt like I left the trail in good shape.

 

Laurel Fork gorge is covered with white Rosebay Rhododendrons right now, and I took a couple of photos seen below:
